TIPS TO GET THROUGH A BREAKUP

The 6 Month Rule

Avoid any communication for 6 months to fully heal from a breakup. This will give you enough time to reconnect with yourself and look forward to what you want from a partner.

FEEL IT TO HEAL IT

There is no time limit for grief. It varies from person to person. Yet, as per studies, it takes an average 3-5 months to heal from a breakup while recovering from a divorce takes a minimum of 1.5 years.

WRITE ABOUT IT

Writing about your relationship and why did it end, proves very helpful. It helps you to reframe the breakup based on the benefits it has for you.

PRIORITIZE SELF CARE

– Get to the basics: get enough sleep, eat healthy food, and exercise. (It's difficult to do these things but push yourself every day) – Do something every day that brings you joy.

AVOID RUMINATING

Talk to a trusted friend - this will allow you to process it better. However, avoid ruminating (examining) as this leads to re-experiencing the memory over and over.

FOLLOW NO CONTACT RULE

Make an effort to unfollow or mute your ex's account and the people close to them.
